About this project
The Supporting Her Education for Her Autonomy (SHEHA) project helps underprivileged adolescent girls in rural Tanzania access, remain in and successfully complete secondary education.
The project addresses the practical and financial barriers that can force girls out of school. Alongside educational support, girls receive mentorship and life-skills development to help them build confidence, recognise their potential and use education to create change in their own lives and communities.

Objective
To support access to and successful completion of secondary education for underprivileged rural girls in Magu District, Mwanza Region, using the power of education to strengthen their autonomy and their ability to create positive change in their lives and communities.
Implementation coverage
The SHEHA project is implemented in Bujora, Kisesa, Bujashi and Bukandwe wards in Sanjo Division, Magu District, Mwanza Region, Tanzania.
The project works with adolescent girls attending public secondary schools within these rural communities.

Project-specific objectives
The project aims to provide 300 underprivileged adolescent girls across six public secondary schools with educational sponsorship, mentorship, accompaniment and life-skills development.
At the same time, SHEHA works with parents, school committees, teachers and students to strengthen community support for girls’ education and encourage cooperation, support and mutual respect between girls and boys.
